Welcome

The Book Band is a collaborative group of book artists.

Our purpose is to promote our work, collaborative and individual, and book-art more widely whilst sharing skills, ideas and encouragement with the group. If we sell some work along the way, that will justify our existence.

We are seven artists: each of us makes artists books, several are also print-makers, and we are all also members of Stroud Artists Books. By exploring our work together in regular online and in-person meetings, we aim to increase our own enjoyment of the process and to produce exciting and innovative work. Please visit the Gallery page to see the individual artists and examples of their work.

Exhibitions

Our first group exhibition: FULLY BOOKED – the art of the book was held at the Lansdown Gallery in Stroud from 12 – 24 March 2024.

Other book fairs and exhibitions

Some of our work was on display at the MAKE Gloucester fair on 25 November.

We showed our work at two events in June: Clevedon Celebration of the Book on June 10th, and Artbeat on 9-11 June.

Our table at Bookface in Reading was fun to show to a large number of visitors, and we met a lot of other fabulous artists that day.

The Artists’ Bookmarket 2023 at the Fruitmarket gallery in Edinburgh on 18-19 February was a delight. We met so many artists and visitors with a passion for book arts. Please see our Instagram feed below for some images.

We took part in the first Notts Book Art Fair on 8th October which brought many interested people in to discuss our work and see it first hand. We look forward to future events with this wonderful new group.

We enjoyed very much showing our work at the Clevedon Celebration of the Book as part of their Literary Festival on 11 June.

We were very excited to be take part in this year’s amazing Book Arts Bristol Event: BABE at Bower Ashton on 23/24 April. We had a lot of interest in our work and loved the opportunity to network with many other artists book-makers from all over the world.

Our table at the Printed Bound printmaking and artists book fair at Sunny Bank Mills near Leeds on 2/3 April attracted a lot of interest and we thoroughly enjoyed showing our work to the lovely visitors who arrived in large numbers.

Our collection of Ten Books titled ‘Ten Ways of Seeing’ is being included in the Turn the Page NPPL fair in Norwich on 27/28 May. It was accepted for the virtual exhibition held in 2021 but this was an opportunity to see it for real.

We have a video in the BABE Lost Weekend festival 2021 virtual exhibition at the Arnolfini. You can see all the videos here (ours is Number 95).
